I wore black combat boots 6 days a week for 2 years when I was on active duty with the Army (would've been 3, but you don't wear the black boots in Iraq). And while some could get hot, not all of them would. Most were okay if you took care of them, and cleaned the dirt out of the pores in the leather. Generally the only time people complained about their boots being hot was if they were idiots and wore winter boots in the summer. More often the complaints were in the winter that their boots weren't warm enough.
If getting hot is a major issue, there are always the popular jungle boots. Most of the upper part of the boot is canvas or nylon, and the water drain vents at the bottom can also work as air vents.

i love my jungle boots, except for i have tendonitis in my heels so the jungle boots tend to irritate it very bad. but thats easyily solved wit the Dr. Scholz insert thingys. also, back me up on this jon or any other millitay personel. but leather isnt used by the millitary any more on their boots. at least i havent come across any pictures of leather. also my jungle boots have leather on the lower half and i dont have a problem with them. i think your thinking of old school combat boots from like the 40's-80's

Jungle boots rock but I only wear them During Summer/Fall/Late Fall, after that I wear full leather boots, but still since i am from Ukraine, I have to go there for 6 weeks once in awhile for military training its a law there...But ye the jungle boots are very light and I like them better than Leather Combat boots <--- Mines are heavy, and in the cold weather they keep my feet toasty lol, SPETSNAZ Boots , had them for 3 years and still serve me fine.I do remember being foolish last year and wearing those boots at like 100 degrees, good thing i had jungle boots with me i had to change after the first round i hope it doesnt happen again lol...

leather is still being used in the navy. kinda mandatory onboard ships. nylon and other synthetic materials will melt in case of shipboard fires. shore duty personnel can use the leather/nylon combo

Personally I think goggles are the most important thing after the gun. Can't play if you don't protect your eyes.

I agree Jon, you can never be to safe when it comes to your eyes, the last thing you want to do is permantly f**k up your vision because you were being stupid.

I would even go far enough to say that goggles should be purchased before buying a gun.

Goggles are way more imporntant than boots. This is how I see it.
-goggles
-gun(main weapon)
-hydration
-camo
-Other protection
-secondary weapon/extra guns
If you don't have goggles your pretty retarded. You can buy a full paint ball helmet/mask thingy at Wal-mart for like $30

i got mine for like 17. a really nice one. i was surprised. and i think boots would be a good idea as a first purchase, cuz runing around in the woods in stuff like mud or snow could lead to a sprained ankle without proper support. plus boots give u a little bit better traction in stuff like snow or mud. which mud is very common on almost every field. and things for hydrations. jus start out with brining bottles of water to the field and sticking it in a unused pouch. no need to spend 30-60 bucks on a hydration pack

Safety should be paramount.
Anything that affects your safety should be strongly considered.
Remember, especially if you're starting out, not everything in the world has to be all "tacticool". Use what works, and replace it as wanted/needed.
Your feet and your eyes are important. Spend a little more to keep them safe.
Your boots don't have to be army boots, they can be comfortable hiking boots if you prefer. Make sure they have great arch support, ankle support, and are comfortable to wear. Insoles go a long way, and don't wear gym socks - use actual hiking socks or other socks meant for boots with extra cushioning.
Your eyeballs are the same - treat them right. Go with a good pair of ANSI rated Z78.1+ rated FULL SEAL goggles. If you have a paintball mask, that'll work as well. Hell, depending on your age and the worry factor of your parents, you may want to use a paintball mask. They're fairly cheap, very common, and have good ballistic ratings for airsoft. Just remember, DON'T SHOOT THEM AT POINTBLANK RANGE to see if they'll hold up to a BB. They just may, but the second time around they might not. I also strongly discourage those mesh sansei type masks. Not only can the mesh deform, but debris can fly around and get in your eyes (BB's flying around are not the only threat to your eyes out in the field). Fogging may be a pain, but learn the tricks around them, and cherish those girl ooglers God gave ya.
Need water? Buy bottled water and keep it on you. Go to Sports Authority or Dick's and pick up a camelbak. It doesn't have to be camouflage or super high speed, it just needs to keep you hydrated. Water is critical, even in the winter.
Camouflage isn't super important. Sure, it makes you look like a super ninja, but if you can't afford it, start hitting up the things that'll help you out first - good boots, great eyepro, a reliable (doesn't have to be the best, or the fastest, it just needs to reliably put BB's on your target) airsoft gun, hydration, and everytthing else will start to fall into place after that.
Besides, BDUs of any kind are cheap and readily available. Don't believe me? Go on eBay.
If you're on a budget, you need to prioratize your spending. Seriously consider the safety issues first and foremost. You may not look like captain awesome on the field, but you don't need to to enjoy the game and still be a damned good player.
**Edited for spelling.

Also if you don't want a BDU you can Get Dark Green clothes such as OD, they also work good...I started out with those.

Here's how we started out haha. We had goggles too but we never wore them in photo ops. That's why you won't find any 2004 images on our site.
Note how I'm the only one wearing camo. Uber leet tactical Kohl's brand, baby! Thanks for the post, Knight. A+

Snow boarding goggles may work but im not sure. They are usually used just to block snow. Find an airsoft gun that shoots around 400 fps (most allowed in most places, except snipers) and shoot the goggles from point blank range. Get em a couple times to make sure they are safe.
About the shoes, i would get high top boots for the ankle support, being that I have rolled my ankle many times running up hills.
That place that I pm'ed you about is the place where I get all my camo and I would go there.
And good luck finding your gun. Get a high-end gun, and you wont regret it later.

don't mean to be an ass, but i will go with knight on this one. its sound advice. the best thing to do is to buy ANSI rated goggles. this way they are tested and if you get hurt..yeah you might loose an eye, but you will get such a fat lawsuit you can buy another one
