Hey, I was just wondering if you guys could give me a recomendation on a good beginner vest. I'd like one that holds M4 mags, is sturdy, and, if all possible, under $100. Thanks.

I have a great beginner vest that I'm selling for only $30. It's woodland camo, in great condition, and is perfect for a beginner.

Cool, maybe I can buy it from you some Airsoft Night. I'll see if I can make the next one.

hey admin, if crippler doesn't take it, bring it to the next airsoft night. I want to see if it'd fit me. You think it would?

Uh oh! Not to rip on the admin, but I suggest sticking with real gear, not gear made for airsoft.

The real version of that vest can be found, and it isn't very expensive used. Another option would be web gear, which can be found at local army/navy discount shops.

Yeah, we don't put the same amount of stress on this gear as airsoft gear, but I've seen airsoft gear break in the field. I've never seen the real stuff fail. (By fail I mean the zipper doesn't work, buckles unsnap, velcro gives, etc.)

I suggest you play with the real deal. It'll last a lot longer. Check out your local shop, or for higher end stuff, visit www.OpTactical.com or www.TacticalTailor.com or www.skdtac.com

I think one could contest that some of us put an equal amount of stress into the gear as it was designed for.

I destroy my repro, thats why I only buy the real deal now. I fully agree with ya L337, but if he's interested in it, let Admin sell it haha.

For someone who doesnt' want to pay the same amount as his college tuition for gear, that vest will most likely be fine for me to start with, at least until I destroy it.

Which will most likely happen.

As L337 said, the real version of that vest, the LBV 88 can be found for a really cheap price if you look around, check ebay.

Keep in mind he asked for a starter vest which is just what I am selling. I usually always suggest that members go all out when they buy airsoft gear so they save money in the long run, but this has everything he would need.

Yeah, my vest may not be that $200 blackhawk vest with all the condiments, but I really don't see how badly people can damage a vest playing airsoft. I could understand someone getting a small tear from a thorn bush or some of the stitching to come loose, but for a $30 vest, that thing held up really well.

However, if you can find any real gear in good condition for that price, buy it.

EDIT: Lane, I have no clue if it will fit you. I know it can be adjusted, but I can let you try it on if he doesn't want it.

Cool. Yeah, I'm up between that and just spending the money on a CIRAS (possibly Eagle, as they can do it in Multicam.)

A CIRAS is overkill for airsoft.

Yes, I wear a RAV sometimes, and I own a CIRAS - but the vest admin shows is more than enough for your average airsofter.

Holds extra ammo? Check.
Durable? Admin used it for a while, and it's still good to go - Check.
Add to it? It's got belt loops, and belt loops means a belt can be added. Belt means more pouches - Check.
Get's the job done? Check.

30 bucks? Good deal, let's you hit the ground running, is lightweight, and will work for a great price. You can use it while you look into the world of being a Geardo and decide if the potential cash cow you'll actuall sink into buying top shelf kit is for you.

For the record, I started out my MILSIM/Paintball/Airsoft career with ALICE gear and an LBV-88. I still have it, and I still use it in the summer.

Just food for thought.

Yeah, that's another thing I was deciding. How much of a Geardo I want to be. I'm looking in to the "real steel" if you will of that vest, too, just because I know me and I know I like "real" stuff. Wink

Who was it at Airsoft night that had the Zombie Survival Kit? Yeah, I'm one of those.

That's good to know. I planned on using my Army issue LBE I still have with ammo pouches for my first game or so.
