I bought a new electric airsoft gun.
It's a Crosman Pulse R74 (a.k.a. MP5).
It uses .20 gram 6mm BBs.
Its FPS is 325.
It has a dual clip and carries 525 rounds.

My guess is that some of you, maybe most of you will say it's not a good buy and a total waste of money. My only question is if .12 gramm 6mm BBs will also work with it?
In addition I bought a paintball mask.

Without actually ever seeing the gun I don't know, but my guess is they'll work, but not well. It could have the same problems as higher-end guns (I don't see why not) with .12s. Personally I wouldn't try it, but that's just me.

birdman is right. with a .12 you will get such shitty shots. i had a springer and i used .20 on it. granted is shot like s**t but a lot better than a .12. why didn't you save some money and buy a TM or CA?

The only think I ever liked about .12g bbs were the assortment of pretty colors and the way it made my MP5 sound. Other than that, the .12's are s**t ... but it doesn't really matter what you use since it's not even a real airsoft gun.

My parents don't want me spending a lot of money on airsoft gear.

Why do you say that?

still, if you buy a shitty gun, then it will one day breakdown and you wont have the ability to fix it. however if you SAVED your money and bought a TM or CA, when something went wrong you can get a replacement part to fix it. plus this sport requires some money, granted you don't have to buy all the top gear with the high end guns, but you will always need money for bb's and other supplies. why don't you get a job somewhere close to home. then have some spending money for airsoft? i dunno man. i'm just trying to help you out and so was admin. so take our advice and let your parents know that like every other sport/hobby it requires money.

I understand and thanks for the help, but the prices for this stuff blows my mind too. I've looked at CA guns, as well as TM, and their prices are un-freakin-believable. The prices range between $200-$800. Which is high... for me.
Mine was like... $140, I pretty much draw the line at that.

Unfortunately to really get into the sport, it costs a bit of money to start up. On the plus side, spending that money on a TM or a CA or ICS or something similar, that gun will last you years. Most people buy new guns because they just get bored with their old ones. Wink I just recently spent 300 on my gun, and am in the process of buying my gear. And that's all going to last me long enough to earn back what i spent, times twenty. You just need to think in the long run.

Like Lane said, it does cost a bit of money to get started in the sport. I was thinking about buying a low end gun before I reallly started looking into airsoft and from what I know now, i would be spending more money replacing the low end guns that I bought because they would break. Because higher end guns are similar you can just buy the parts. Good luck with this buy but if something happens to it, start saving up for a higher end gun that will really help in the long run.

Another question is:
Is it bad if you charge your battery (I have an 8.4v) longer than 6 hours prior to your first use?

Ni-MH. I just unplugged it and it was hot, but now it's cooling down

I also read on the Crosman site that they can do non-warranty repairs for a fee, so that way I won't have to buy a new gun when my MP5 (god forbid) breaks.
