1: Kapowwe.com
2: I googled "A&K airsoft M249" after seeing it on kapoww.com. And many things came up.
Well now that this is happening i am going to be 1 happy suport gunner. if this is true, my guess, about 95% true

one thing i've noticed is that you (wickwire) keep looking into bargain/low end (tokyo marui clone) guns. you need to realize that airsoft is not a cheap hobby, and if you can't afford to fully buy into maybe you should find another hobby... you also need to pick a role so far i've heard you say you want to play support gunner, sniper, cqb (pretty much everything)
i'm not saying that clone guns are bad,i've never owned one myself, but i didn't start with a clone gun (like most others) and i've never looked back.
..sorry for grammar or spelling...

Sorry, my bad. I am all for High ends, and how they are very expensive and how some one soundn't cut corners on AEG's, But in my case, i don't have job, and no other way to make money, so thats why i go for the cheaper stuff. But as for the topic, to me a $300-500 SAW dosen't seem to be a bargain or low end even though A&K is a bit of both. Also for the "role" I am an all around guy. CQB "not good for woodlend areas" So thats gone." "Sniper i doun't have the time and pacients" "Riflemen is more me" And a bit of "Support"

So far I have heard some pretty decent things about A&K guns, it should be interesting to see how their M249 performs.

I'm all for a more affordable M249, or any other SAW for that matter. Just gotta wait it out and see how their quality is. And Axis, here's something to keep in mind: ICS started out with a crap reputation (that they're still trying to shake). A LOT of people like their ICS M4s now, including me. I've had nothing but good come of my ICS M4. Give them a chance. They may have figured out that they need to improve. I personally have never heard of A&K before recently, but that does not meant they're crap. It just means that they're young. And like anything (or anyone) else that is young, they are working on maturing.

There are two great truths in Major League Soccer:
1) Your team is either from Chicago or a suburb of Detroit.
2) Detroit sucks. |

Whether people want to accept it or not, the fact is that the China clones are getting much better in quality. They may not be TM or CA quality yet, but they have come a long way from the early UTG MP5s. Hell, CA is a clone company if you want to get down to it. And believe it or not, CAs are made in China. The same place as the clones.
Am I saying that JG, JLS, or A&K are just as good as the high end guns? No. But have they gotten to the point that they can seriously compete against the expensive guns on the field? Yes.
Some of the clones are actually quite good, especially for the price. Especially when one considers that some clones are now completely TM-compatable.
How do I know this? Unlike some people, who make claims without actually trying the product they denounce, I spent my own money to find out how good or bad a clone can be (specifically an Echo 1 M733). Without any trouble, I installed a number of Systema, G&G, and Deepfire parts in my clone gun, not to fix a broken gun, but to see if the clone could take standard upgrade parts. And it did.
Sorry to go on a rant, but I'm getting a bit tired of seeing people repost what they read on the net as fact, without finding out for themselves whether or not it's true.

I never got to skirmish with it stock, but I went through around 5,000 rounds in basement shooting. The main thing I found with my Echo 1, is the barrel needed cleaning out of the box. Before cleaning, it was about minute of moon. After cleaning it was probably minute of man (based on shooting paper targets).
After the upgrades, it shot 366 at Blast Camp (cold reading), and I was able to get 3 kills with it when I could run and gun (spent most of the day as a prisoner). Not bad for a clone. Yesterday I put in a Systema tightbore, and am looking foward to trying it out this Sunday.
Anyway, back the the A&K SAW. The rumor mill is claiming that it will come stock with an M150(!?), and shoot around 500 fps (!?!?!?). Supposedly it's going to be a clone of the CA SAW, which if true, means that the gearbox should be a PGC copy (like the CA SAW). Again, those are rumors, not fact. At least not yet.

I can say now that the CA saw is way over priced. it has the same internals as the M4 does. the only thing diffent is the size of the gear box. and the gear box is even more simple then any other gear box. the only thing the price covers is the looks. so if theres a saw that is all metal with metal gear box for 500-800$ cheaper, im all for it. im glad some company isnt trying to rip airsofters off

Call me optimistic, but i'm predicting the price of the 'high end' saws will go down. it may not happen overnight but it will happen.
On the note of MGs, CA or Inokatsu (most likely) is speculated to be on the R&D stages of making a M240

About the PGC gearbox, it was just confirmed by airsoft-news.eu, one or two pages into the news section.
EDIT: Are they actually making an M240? I had read about a conversion kit based on an M14 but nothing about a standalone weapon.

240! 240! I've always wanted an airsoft version.
THis is cool. I'd pick up a metal M249mKII for $500. |
Don't hold your breathe on the 240 1337. i just read it'll be made by inokatsu, on airsoft news. which most likely means it'll be hella mucho moolah. they're speculating it'll be upwards of 2K per kit; yeah a kit and you need a donor m14. there's also word of a complete aeg, which will cost more.
any word on the estimated weight for this A&K MKII?

Update on the Chinese M249 SAW:
From www.airsoftcommunity.co.uk/forums/
The owner of www.rsov.com (Hong Kong) has stated that the price will likely be around GBP £80-90 ($160-$180), with shipping around GBP £40 ($80). If this is the final price, that means a SAW could be had for under $300.
Whether or not US retailers will sell it that cheap is another matter.
