"Operation: Barbed Wire

Location: Waters off the coast of Somalia-

For the fifth time in less than a month the United Sates Navy has had to assist a merchant vessel in the coastal waters of Somalia. The Horn of Africa nation has not had a functioning government since 1991 and has become a haven for modern pirates. These pirates use heavily armed speedboats to capture merchant vessels. The crews and ships are then ransomed back to thier owners.
US Operations to stem the tide of piracy against merchant vessels in the waters of the horn of Africa have met with limited success. The pirate menace continues to be a black mark against the free world.

The US has had enough. Several incidents have included US warships coming under fire from small arms and rocket propelled grenades. The attackers then quickly retreat to the waters of Somalia where the US may not pursue. Even with the patrols of US warships in the area, piracy has continued and attacks in 2008 have become more common.

The US has secretly gotten permission from the Somali "government" to strike into Somali territory and attack the pirates at thier main base of operations. To deal with the problem at sea has proven difficult, the time has come to strike at the source of the problem. US Marines combined with US SOCOM operators will strike hard and fast at this modern day Tortuga. Advisors/observers from several NATO nations will be taking part in the raid as well.

Field fee is $30

US uniform requriements: Any full BDU from a NATO country with the exception of black.

Pirate uniforms: Anything goes except full BDUs. The only full BDU uniform allowed will be all black. Civilian clothes will be OK, Black tops encouraged. Red bandanas unfortunately look like kill rags and will not be allowed!

FPS rules: 400 FPS or less for full automatic AEGs. 450 FPS or less for DMR rifles (semi auto only) and 500 FPS or less for single fire sniper rifles. 50' minimum engagement distance for DMR, 75' for sniper rifles.

We willl be using the playing card medics again.

Safety brief at 9:45 followed by game start at 10:00AM. Game will run until 3PM.

Gates open at 8:00 AM.
