I think that from close up they dont do anything because all you really hear is the motor. However, I think that from a distance, you wont hear the "click" type noise. Nick and I are going to do a few tests when I get it and also when I get my gun back!

I FIXED MY GEARBOX! All I had to do was change the switch assembly to a more tight-fitting one and it worked fine.

The reason it wasnt working correctly was because the switch assembly is suppost to hold a lever down that stops your gears from spinning, which gives it that semi-auto feel. However, the reason it worked fine on auto was because the lever did not have to be held down so it was just spinning the way it should.

Anyways, on to the mod. I ordered some very high quality metal bushings that have fluid ball bearings which should increase its rate of fire (ROF).

I will let you know if and when I get them and what the seem like as soon as I can. I ordered from www.21stcenturyairsoft.com; I will see if they are a good site or not when I get my goods.

I am still in awe that you were on the forums ....... *pausing in awe. Anywho, back to my mods.

I ordered a fluid bushing set from 21stcenturyairsoft.com.
Total: $31.46

I also ordered the following from CobraAirsoft.com: Grease set (consists of gear, cylinder and bearing grease), spring set (consists of the little springs that can easily be lost during modification Embarassed ), and shims (the little tiny spacer rings that help do something for your gears Question ).
Total: $19.50 + 23.72 S/H Twisted Evil = $43.22

I am very soon (like very very soon) going to be ordering a few things with Kevin W. from airsplat.com. They are: 3 point tactical sling, M16 tac vest (m16 because its cheaper and the walkie talkie area I like more), Side holster for pistol (im selling my chest holster because it gets in the way), and a web belt which is really just a belt colored black that holds up my holster and also keeps my tac vest held against my chest.
Total: $60 + S/H = $70 to pay back Kevin

Also, away from the same order as Kevin, I am going to be buying a few things from Redwolf.com. I want to get a systema hi-speed motor and also a patch that says SWAT on it to put on my tac vest.
Total: $40 + S/H = $Around $60-70

Some upgrades I want but am not going to buy so I will wait until xmas or maybe a softmore graduation present Wink are: Magnifying scope and rail mount, and also the RIS foregrip with vertical handle) Most likely I will get those from airsplat.com too. I also need another charger since Kevin W's battery broke mine, but until xmas or something, I will just nag Jimmy to use his. I also want some low-cap mags instead of hi-caps.
Total: Around $200

So how much is all of that?
Ordered $74.68 + Ordering $140 + Future $(technically free since I will ask for gift) = $214.68

I will let you know how those turn out. Also, a mod I think we should all purchase together would be some tools to bring with us when we go on road trips to airsoft events (WE GOT TO DO IT MAN!!! ROAD TRIP ROAD TRIP!) Razz

After this week, I will have spent a grand total of $1,200.00 on airsoft equipment. Cool

As soon as I get an ebay account, I will receive about $100 worth of that money back. Cool

I installed my metal ball bearing bushings (21stCenturyAirsoft is a valid business by the way Smile ) and I did not seem to notice a huge difference. So I called up my good man ONderCAT and asked for his opinion on the speed difference.

Quoting Jimmy, "Are you kidding me? You dont notice a difference?! That thing shoots fast as hell. It must be because its still morning". And it was, it was about 12:00am, still too early for me. Wink

I also told him how fast it will shoot as soon as I get my hi-speed motor. He said he was going to stay the hell away from me. Twisted Evil

Im going against my own rules and creating many posts and not editing them but its because this topic is good to keep posting new replies since it can show the date of when I did each thing.

Anyways, lets get to the good part. Today, Lucky Friday, I received my grease, shims, and springs for my gearbox. I spent the morning greasing and lubing my gun and just as I was getting to re-install my motor (Turbo 2000), DHL showed up at my house and gave me my Systema Hi-Speed motor.

Note to All: Redwolf Airsoft is much faster than Cobra Airsoft

I put in my motor, called up Nick and we shot my first round with my new Hi-Speed beast. I pulled the trigger and it made a loud screach 8O . Oops. I had to adjust my motor screw (easy enough) and then it stopped screaching. I put it to auto and it TURNED INTO A FRICKIN` BB HOSE! Twisted Evil

It shoots unbeleivably fast! I went through about 1,000 bbs today just shooting my Beast-Hose.

PostPosted: Sun May 15, 2005 10:53 am    Post subject: Piston and Head Reply with quote

While playing at Mike's (bronco78) house, my gun broke and I opened it up there to find that the back of my piston was cracked off. Luckily it was just the piston and no gears or anything like that.

I had to order a new piston from Redwolf and I also had to get a piston head. However, since I have been thinking of getting a silenced piston head for a while, I decided just to get it along with a poly-carbonate piston; both are made by Systema.

Total including shipping came out to be $80 and I should have it installed by the time we play next weekend. How many times has my gun broken now? 8?

The cylinder in a gun is one of the most important factors along with the spring and barrel which help make airsoft guns more accurate. My cylinder has holes along the side to let air out and increase RateOfFire.

However, what I did as a small ghetto mod was put some tape on those holes to keep all of the air in the cylinder and then have more of a 'push' out the barrel. I tested it out, but it was soo windy I couldnt really tell if it helped. I am going to play with it at the next game and see if it really increased accuracy. If so, I might keep my MP5 and just buy a new cylinder ... but thats highly unlikely.

Got her fixed!!!! Yes! It shoots VERY far and accurate with the exception of when my hopup plays tricks with me. I might buy a new bucking or other hopup related parts for it. I may not have even needed my torque-up motor at all because I put it on my gun and I still had the same problem as before with my gun. The gears sounded like they were grinding together.

I realized that the shim guide from 21st Century Airsoft was exactly for my gun since my metal bushings arent flush with the gearbox frame. They were grinding together so I just took them out and PRESTO! It worked. The silecner has a huge impact on the sound of the gun. However, the silenced head that I have had doesnt seem to make it completely silent as Mike K. had talked about .. oh well.

Next thing to fix is my hopup and the website.

Ill think about buying your upgraded motor from you if you dont want too much. I just want A motor in my M4, doesn't matter how good or bad it is. Let me know if you want to get rid of it.

I told some of this already, but just to mention it again here goes. If my MP5 doesnt fail on me again for a few weeks, I am going to get a longer, tightbore barrel for my baby. I will probably also get a new hopup unit by Guarder or something similarly upgraded.

If a "no-hole" cylinder is more accurate than what I have (3/4 hole) then I will buy that as well. The tightbore barrel that I would get would be a "Prometheus EG Barrel 285mm for MC51" for about $50. *Note: The MC51 part doesnt matter because I am having the excess length feed into my silencer, but I might get a slightly shorter one just so my silencer still works.

I might also rename my gun to be the MP5-S (the "s" for sniper) <--- An oxymoron I know, but she has gotten much better than the hose I had.

EDIT: More technical info on the cylinders
I was checking out WGC shop and I was browsing Gurader's cylinder selection and noticed the placement of the holes on the sides of them. I have wondered which ones would be more accurate and deliver a higher FPS. After I studied the images and descriptions it made sense.

This type of cylinder has no holes and is used in the G3, M16, and AK.

This type has holes on the side, but very close to the edge and is used on the M4 and SR16.

This one is used on the MP5 A4 & A5 and has holes more towards the middle.

And finally this one is used on the MP5k and PDW which has the holes in the middle of the cylinder.

I come to my conclusion by saying that the no-hole would be the most accurate, but with the lowest Rate-Of-Fire since the air cannot escape as quickly. The M4 one has holes, but farther back so that the air it does lose is very minimal with an improved ROF. Skipping down to the MP5K version, it has the hole in the center so that it achieve the highest ROF, but have the least amount of air actaully ending up at the bb which would lower accuracy and FPS significantly. <--- Cylinder question sloved

I just ordered a Prometheus 6.03mm tightbore barrel for my "MP Guy" and an improved hopup bucking by Guarder. Total came out to be $65 from WGC.

The new barrel is 5 inches longer than my current one and will go about half-way through the silencer. I had a 229mm, but now its going to be as long as the M4, SR16, and Sig 551 -- a 363mm!
