My first impression was damn this is big the box was very large and heavy, you could fit 2 or maybe even 3 rifles in it. When I opened it up there was a lot of foam on the gun from the packaging so I took a vacuum and cleaned it off then cleaned the box and set it up.
The general appearance of the gun is very real, everything but the stock is metal and it is very heavy. Many parts on the gun move like the charge handle (I think that’s what it’s called) the sights adjust for longer range, like ill need it and a few other parts can be adjusted too. The bipod folds up into the front grip and is easily moved or folded up giving you a nice stand for laying down fire.
The box bag is made of plastic and is attached by a spring to the gun (the bb’s travel through a spring that is tightly coiled). I had trouble with attaching this because 1 I didn’t know where to put the bb’s because was told not to put to put them in the right side well if you look at it there are 2 right sides since it can be flipped around, and 2 because when I slid the box under the gun I could not get the end of the mag to fit in the magazine slot. Both these problems were resolved by trial and error. In order to get the mag to fit you need to slide the spring and assembly into the gun first then attach the box bag second. To load the bb’s you place them in the space closest to the top of the mag which is smaller, if any bb’s get in the bottom part it will jam like Andre’s at September’s cpx.
Playing with the gun was awesome; I took the sling off my m16 and attached it to the SAW by feeding it through a space under the barrel and around the stock. To play with it all day you NEED to have a sling its very heavy and the sling lets you rest it on you shoulders. Many times I fired form the hip because its was just easier. When shooting the gun you get a real rush, its loud and the box mag has a motor on it too so it makes a lot of noise. The rate of fire in the gun is sick, when you shoot there is a stream of bb’s that come out and with the box bag clicked on it can shoot until you run out of ammo. The gun was shooting at about 320 fps and it cut a foam cup in half with one 3 second trigger pull!
My over all impression of the gun is that it’s great. It feels real, all metal and is a beast. With my upgraded parts that I have for it the gun will be a true support weapon. However it’s not a gun for beginners. I give it a grade of an A.
Pros: real feeling, all metal, great ROF and solid build
Cons: high price, heavy (that’s what you get with all metal, and it’s just like the real thing) box mag difficult to put on but its new and bb’s can get stuck in the bipod and jam it closed but that’s easy to fix with a leatherman.
Hope you enjoy the review, Matt
