at the cpx game last sunday i craked the whole front end of my gear box which you could see in the mag well, so stupid me thought i could open it and see what i did so i open it up and take off the broken segment of the gearbox and got a great idea... why don't i pull the trigger and see if it works, next thing i know i see a spring, piston, air nossle, cylinder and a couple other parts on my bedroom floor, now what i need is a replacement reinforced gearbox and some one to reassemble a gearbox for me... if you have and mp5 you don't use i am willing to pay for one... i may just buy the gearbox and pay for some one to reassemable/ swap parts
any takers???
edit: does any one know any websites i can use to help me assemble a version 3 gearbox

Sorry to hear this Axis, but this is a good warning for me not to open my gearbox.
You can check the boards on Airsoft Chicago, they have a classifieds section.

I was able to sell my MP5 without the gearbox to a good guy name Rob_D. He sells them to Doc I believe. and what else can I say than, "I told you ICS/Airsoft Elite sucks". If it broke with all stock internals, the brand is shite. sorry to hear about that though. I've been there over 10 times so join my club.

this was not a manufacturing error, i don't know if you hear but on the last round in bedlam i was runnin behind matt to cover him when i slipped on the paint covered ground and slammed my gun into a door post at about the same place my gearbox cracked.
does anyone think i can weld it back together and then someone just rebuild it (only the upper gear box)... other than that if anyone wants an mp5 body/stock/reciever send me a pm it's slighty scratched and dirty but it's nothing a good old rub down won't clean
now i kinda wish i had the classic army mp5 cause i think that crack might have been there before cpx
Classic Army here I come!!!!!
Edit: did i mention my flash hider fell off...hehe

welding is a bad idea. 1 a weld that is strong enough to hold the 2 pieces together would be to big to get back into the gun and fit like its supposed to, and 2 i believe the metal used in gear boxs are not of a high enough gauge to weld and you'll prolly just end up weaking the metal and it will crack again

so my best bets are:
1) get a new gun
2) buy a new reinforced gearbox and make a switch
i think i'll take #1 and use my mp5 as a scrap gun or slowly get the money to rebuild it

oh damn, I did see that. It was like an ice rink out there with all that damn paint. Maybe JB weld or contact cement would work? Then again, when the same thing happened to my gearbox, I was like, screw that. lol.

O man. Good one. I kinda was right behind you when it happened and you hit the damn wall pretty hard. Sorry to hear it. Maybe we can sell our guns together and then we will get the m15's. I would get more though cause i actually have the entire gun.

Hey axis, if you ever decide to get a new gearbox shell, I would be more than willing to put all of the stuff back in it for ya'. I'm well experienced with the mp5 gear boxes and all, since an Mp5 was my first AEG and I did a lot of internal messing around with it. Just let me know.
Oh, and doesn't the mp5 take a version 2 gear box? You stated earlier that you needed a version 3. I'm confused.
And if you're interested, I know of a place where you can get like super strength industrial version 2 gearboxes. There like the classic army, but 5 times stronger. But there like $250-300. But you'll never have to worry about breaking another gear box and all. =)

He and I just bought new gearboxes. He is convinced the cold weather and the M120 spring caused it to crack and that reason is good enough for me.
I remember toggle telling me not to buy the black Systema gearbox (the $150 one or something like that) because it is s**t. If you are ever interested in buying it, make sure you talk to him first.

thanks deadeye and i looked into it and it think my gun uses a ver.2 gearbox ( i get confused with the version of the gun and the gearbox version) i'll look into one but i probably won't spend 250-300 for a gearbox if it's gonna be my secondary weapon.
i have this feeling that my gearbox started to crack at the HEAT practice cause it was cold as a mofo' that day

Just a question but how did you get those mixed up? Our guns are version 4.

Wo, wo, wo. Where are these version 4s coming from? I've never heard of that version. The only versions that I've ever known about are 2, 3, and 6.
When I say version 2 I'm referring to the "style" of the gearbox. Like the g36 takes a version 3, the m15 and mp5 take the version 2, and I think the p90 takes the version six. (but I'm not sure on the p90 one). What are you guys talking about when you say 'version 4'? Are you just referring to the model of the gun, like it's the version 4.0 of the AE mp5 or something??
Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah they are talking about the version of their ICS guns and not the version of the gearbox. That's what axis was saying about getting them confused, but in either case, the mp5 take version 2, axis.
In my opinion, sell what you can of your MP5 (someone can probably use it for parts) and buy a new airsoft gun. It sounds expensive, but trust me, if you jimmy-rig your gun, you will find yourself putting more money into fixing it than it would cost to buy a new one.

Yeah, I would recommend that way too. Maybe you should consider getting into a version 3 gearbox type weapon. I would recommend the g36 lineup. For first off, they're version 3s, a much stronger gearbox than the 2s, and secondly, the g36s aren't that bad. Especially when you can get a 4x scope already attached for less than $350. And the scopes are decent enough as well. Anyways, way sucks what happened. But I would consider getting into a version 3 gearbox, since your probably in the market again and all. =)

The g36 also has three different sizes. I know you are one of the smallest ones on the field so maybe the G36c would do you well, but for improved accuracy, go with the g36k or g36 rifle.
As a gearbox technician, I can say that in my opinion the version 3 gearbox is nice just because the motor can attach directly to it before putting everything back in your receiver. This can save lots of time when you do shim work or upgrades because you can run the gearbox without even having to put it back in your gun.
