When you say you are going for the TM MP5A4 does that mean that you are going to buy one or that you have one

I know that some other people may of had a bad experiance with ICS but they make a great mp5. The new version 4 of the ICS mp5 is upgraded internally with:

-Turbo 3000 motor
-Reinforced motor pinion
-Steel Bushings
-Low Resistance Wiring

Externally

-Complete Aluminum Alloy Body
-Special Weapons INC. Trademarking (awesome realistic/badass factor)
-Adjustable front/rear sights
-Full Stock for large battery

AirsoftGI claims that the gun shoots at 320 feet per second but mine was shooting close to 340 at my first event. The gun can shoot this constantely if you keep the barrel clean using something like a silicon oil.

As for this being the new version 4, ICS has gotten rid of all the past problems that they had. If you ask Admin, he will tell you about the trouble that he had when trying to put and m120 spring into his ICS mp5. He owned the version 3. The newer version 4 comes with the upgraded internals which will allow you to put in an m120 without problem. Or you can go ahead and get a bigger battery for higher ROF.

Overall I think that ICS has cleared all of the problems that they may of had and that the new version of the mp5 is a great overall gun.

me and sureshot have the same gun (or so we think, there is an ongoing dispute about the manufacturer of my gun) any ways ics makes great guns from my expirience and they are great starter high end aegs, ics also has a full selection of mp5 variants (except the mp5k), bottom line is if you want a less costly high end aeg with a metal body go with ics

Don't get a STAR, They have plastic gearboxes and no warranty, and a $900.00 or so gun, thats not acceptable.

EDIT 10 seconds Later: The STAR M249 MK-II SAW Is $599.00 on Kapowwe, which is the site I trust, here is there take on it:

Star's full size M249 outward appearances are identical to the others on the market; however, it is noticeably lighter. Few other noticeable differences...the charging handle is fixed, comes with hard shell rifle case, 2 flash hiders, the gear box is a dense plastic as apposed to metal, which is very light weight as well as strong, battery is stored in the magazine.

Note: This machine gun has a plastic gearbox and spare parts are very difficult to obtain. This item is prone to magazine feeding problems and loss of performance over time. It looks great, but it's durability is poor. Because of this we offer absolutely no warranty with this item, ALL SALES ARE

On the other topic, you mentioned how UTG "might not be so bad" even though both aren't really good quality AEG's. I think the UMP looks awesome but I wonder its range and accuracy. G&G came out with a UMG which is basically the same thing but I don't think they were licensed with the UMP name or trademarks -- can make or break a gun if you ask me.

G&G doesn't use real trades so that their guns won't have problems with customs, and the sometimes ugly trademark removals that go with importing. But as far as the range for the UMP/UMG, it's an SMG, so it would likely have SMG range (somewhat short).

For example, the G&G trades on my M4 are as follows:

(Left side) mag well
Shield with banner containing 5 stars. Ordinance bomb with GG and a pair of tridents and 'ninja stars'
G&G Armament under the shield
GR 16 Carbine, under G&G Armament
6.0 mm electrical
SER. 0003231

Above trigger

Complete AEG Series
MFG by G&G Armament
Capital of Greedy Island

Right Side (ejection port)
G&G Armament
Capital of Greedy Island

Anyway back on topic, Arnie's has a nice write up on it:
www.arniesairsoft.co.u.../78/cat/16

Also check out redwolf, and dentrinity.com they have additional information on the G&G Version.

STAR makes incredible AEGs. Don't just copy everything you hear from people on forums. A plastic gearbox means nothing. My STAR L85-A2 has a supreme rate of fire and is still in perfect condition. At Asylum I spent a good half hour talking to an owner of the STAR UMP because I have been thinking about buying one for months. He loves it, has had it over 6 months and never had one problem with it (Aside from the magazines being a foot long). Internally they are perfect, externally they are 100% to the real thing. My L85 came stock with an all STEEL receiver and true to life nylon composite grips. A man I was talking to who has handled its real steel counter-part noted that it felt exactly the same. Back to the plastic gearbox... You know its plastic, big woop. Do you know what kind of plastic? Thats what makes all the difference in the world. You see, some plastics are cheap.. but some are stronger than metal.

Oakley lenses are made out of a polycarbonate plastic called Plutonite. Plutonite, although still a plastic, can take a 12 gauge birdshot shell at 15 feet without breaking. You do that to a piece of aluminium in a similar shape and you will see it get torn to shreds.

For all we know, STAR gearboxes could be made from a similar polycarbonate making them stronger than your basic aluminium gearbox. Of all of the people who I know that own STAR AEGs, (myself included) which is quite a few people, not one has anything to say but great things for their weapon. I love mine to death, so did the gentleman from the MAA who owns the UMP. One of T.E.S.T.s members is the proud owner of a STAR SL-9 and he too loves it.

Check your fire, learn a thing or two, and back off with the "know it all" attitude until you really do know it all.

But go against the grain? Why should there be a change in attitudes, or why should we start now?

'My sister's boyfriends older brother's friend has a crossman and they are the leet bestest gun out there. They blow away ca and tm!! HIS rof is 9000 fps and holds an infinite amount of bbs. He rocks! He can empty is clip in like .3 seconds, reload and fire again before ne1 knows what happened. He pwns evry1.'

Its typical in todays society, read one thing, or over hear one thing, then take it for the truth and it must be set in stone.

You have an excellent tool at your fingertips (The internet you perverts) which is just being wasted.

(edit 11/21/06 1300) (God do I hate leet aol speak)

That truly depicts some people floating around the wonderful world of the internet. Its obnoxious... Hopefully some people know that just because someone makes a statement on the internet doesn't mean that they are right.

So often it seems the person who is speaking their mind about a weapon online has never used said weapon, nor even so much as held it. This is a huge reason why I try not to stay too active on the forums in the winter. Its full up of people casting their pathetic opinions that shouldn't count.

Good thing I don't listen to 'em. If I did, I never would have bought the G&G M14. The majority of reviews said that they sucked, and I've found that to be the farthest from the truth. I love my G&G M14, and wouldn't trade it for any other gun out there. Had I listened to what the internet said, I'd probably have bought some other gun, and not be as happy with it. That's one of the reasons I sometimes ask to try someone else's gun, so I can see what it can do with my own eyes.

Oh, so that's what I do wrong. Stupid yahoo answers. I thought those people knew everything, I am just so gullible.

I am just one smart-assed, cynically sarcastic bastard. I don't claim to have all the answers, I just try to provide a different point of view, based on my experiences of being on this rock for almost 35 years.
