Are all of the places that are used for playing airsoft public places? I was reading through the rules for CPX, and it seemed like it was a family public place to do stuff like airsoft. In fact, it said it was a family place. So, I was wondering if you guys ever play in like, wooded areas that aren't owned by some company or something.

You guys probably practice in woodland areas, but do you guys every play in them. Or, at least, do you guys post them up on the public games thread?

I was just wondering. Oh, have you guys ever held a game of your own where other people that were not a part of your team came to play?

we just got a new practice field where only HEAT team members are allowed to play at because the land is owned by a cousin or something. but its only open for private use. around here there really isnt any place to play. if there is a wooded area around its most likely a forest preserve or owned by someone who doesnt want us on their property.

I didn't say that you guys don't go for legal. =)
(And if that was in a sarcastic way: hahaha!)

That sucks though that there's really no places to play in woodland around here. It really brings out that extra part of the game.

What about CQB? Do you guys have buildings around that you could perform CQB type games??

No worries my friend that was just like a sarcastic reiteration of what we always say. Sarcastic but true that is. Well either way it wasn't meant to be mean so no worries.

We used to do some urban cqb practices with the now dead Arlington Heights Airsoft Team (A.H.A.T.), an all-Army team. They had an unused building and a yard of CONEX shipping containers we could run around. Now the remnants of A.H.A.T. are 'mercs' for Wet Works, which has it's own private field somewhere.

At least every public paintball/airsoft field around has plenty of woods.

Hey, this next question is totally off subject for this post, but I just thought of it and I thought it would be kind of stupid to start a whole new post.

So, Yoroiden, I was looking at your avatar, and I noticed your m14. Is that a SOCOM one, or a regular one. I think the SOCOM is shorter and all. Correct?

And...does anyone know of a place where I could purchase a SOCOM m14. That would be the shorter barreled one.

I've always dis-liked the lengthy rifles such as the m16 and the full length m14, but if they have the SOCOM, that would be AWESOME. So, anyone know??

Thanks for the help guys, I'll be sure to check in to those websites.

And I personally believe that Ebay is a good place to purchase from. You just have to be sure to do your research, that's all. And you probably won't get things for cheaper than retail, if it's new. I see Ebay just as a place where people can get their products out to the world failry easily, and inexpensively. But I would probably never buy an AEG off of them. Just random stuff that I could probably not get anywhere else for cheaper.

that's cause it's gonna be for christmas and i'm waiting for a price drop,(he's dropped it twice in the past 2 days), and if you've never used ebay i don't think you should talk about it in a negative way... ebay is one of the greatest e-stores ever and i have never had 1 problem with them and i have bought things from baseball bats to SD cards from them, and those who do have problems usually get them resolved within a matter of days.

deadeye if you feel that there is a truly unpassable deal on ebay i suggest you ask the seller some questions about the gun ie. shipping and packaging or just some basic questions about whatever gun you get, always buy through paypal because it is one of the safest payment methods available and it allows for faster shipping time

Edit: and sureshot i'm pretty sure you've been talking about getting a tactical carbine of your own but that hasn't happened either ( if we don't count your "friends" )

Yeah, I know all about Ebay. Thanks axis14. I've probably used paypal more times than I've actually bought locally. (Probably not, but that's just a comparison to say a lot) And I've bought from Ebay about 4-5 times. But thanks for the help anyways.

And I think the reason why people think of Ebay as a negative thing when it comes to airsoft is because they never have anything of quality. And when they do (which is rare like an eclipse), you can almost get it the same price off of a different website. But maybe I'm just looking in the wrong sections. But I think the word "airsoft" would pretty much narrow it down, don't ya' think? =)

EDIT: It's wierd. UNCompany and WGCShop are both located in HongKong, right?? But UNCompany has the same gun w/an aimpoint replica for the same price that WGC has it w/out the aimpoint. Am I missing something????

sorry to treat you like an ebay noob no disrespect meant, when i search airsoft i usaully search by the manufacturer like..."classic army airsoft" in those exact words and you can find oodles of stuff

to go back to what birdman say about not trusting ebay, yes one day i will regret making a purchase on ebay and when it does come i'll complain my ass off until the problem is solved or i have my money back (yes it is possible i've done it once for a pair of sunglasses and the guy was all for making me happy) luckily rthat was not a major purchase

well at least you have expierience so i can accept your reason for not trusting ebay but what really makes me mad is when people knock on stuff they've never even tried (i'm not excludng my self because i've and some pretty stupid things on this site and in public)

I've always dis-liked the lengthy rifles such as the m16 and the full length m14, but if they have the SOCOM, that would be AWESOME. So, anyone know??

I have the full length G&G M-14, w/ real walnut stock, scope mount, better tightbore (G&G has fair stock ones), upgraded internals, and usually I use a G+P Aimpoint replica. I'm still tuning it, to get it as close as I can to sniper class, while staying within field limits for aegs. Which is why I had started calling it an M-14NM (National Match) for a time. If fields will allow it to be upgraded to a higher fps, I'll probably call it an M-21.

The real SOCOM 16 (Springfield Armory designation), and the, currently one from G&G (S.O.C. 16), airsoft version are basically short barreled variations (16" barrel versus a full 22"). Both also have a foward 'scout' type optics mount, for the purpose of keeping as much of of your peripheral vision unobscured. The muzzle brake on the real one is extremely effective, recoil still exists, but muzzle climb is pretty much negated (I swear on my life I saw the muzzle actually dip down when I tried one).

Anyway, you can either get a full length G&G M-14, and then get the S.O.C. 16 conversion kit (basically you just replace the outer/inner barrel set which is easy on the G&G), or get the assembled S.O.C. 16. TM is working on their own 'M-14 SOCOM', but it is not yet availible.

For the S.O.C. 16:
www.redwolfairsoft.com...odID=17895 (This one has free shipping)

www.airsoftdepot.com/a...d=GG-SOCOM

www.airsoftextreme.com...ts_id=2186 (This one comes with a free Aimpoint replica and 2nd hicap)

www.evike.com/Merchant...ode=AEG_GG (This one also has a free Aimpoint, and free shipping for being over $100)

I know there's more, but that should get ya started.
