What do you think about the series so far? Do you think it will end with this game? Has metal gear influenced you in any way?, perhaps in airsoft.
this topic is for anything you wanna say or ask about metal gear.

I was in love with MGS from day 1, if they stop here i am going to be really ticked off. Also in a airsoft way, it helped me be more stealthy.

I have loved MGS since the first game. It has definatley infulenced airsoft for me. My loadout is basically gonna be Snake from MGS3. Already have the XM16E1 and arranging for the M1911. And I think MGS will end at MGS4. Hideo said that MGS4 will be the last MGS game hes directing. So, unless someone else picks up the series and doesnt kill it. There is a possibility it may continue.

I used to have a TM MP5-A4 but the gear box fell apart, no joke. so I bought a new gear box fixed it and decided that A MP5 is not the gun for me and i sold it. And i am currently saving up for a CA M4-A1,NCstar red dot scope, Silincer, and exter mags. I will end up looking like the delta sniper "Gary Gorden" from the movie Black Hawk Down, or a TM/G&G M-14 with the same scope and look like the other Delta Sniper from the Movie Black Hawk Down.

Nice, are you gonna wear the bandana? and the m1911 is a sweet pistol, its gonna be next on my list or a sig 226 with an m3. and about kojima saying its the last, i don't hold that to be too true since he has said that since mgs2

That would be Randy Shughart. Him and Gordon are American heroes in my opinion. And I hope they don't stop, I would hate to see the story end here.

these are the two guys that went in to the second blackhawk to save the pilot that became a pow, right? the dude with the m14 and the custom xm177e2. if these are the guys you are talking about, the same guys who bodies were shown on the news tossed around and stepped on by those savages, then yeah..those men are hero's..to tell the truth, every person who has fought in the armed forces and risked their lives to preserve the liberties of people in this country or another, and done it with honor, is a hero.

I've been in the US Army for over 5 years, including a year-long deployment to Iraq, but I don't consider myself to be a hero. The people I consider the real heroes are those who gave their lives so that others may live.
And not that it really matters, but MSG Gordon was not armed with an XM-177E2. That weapon had been phased out of service since the early 80's, as it could not use the (then) new M855 round that has become the standard 5.56 load. I admit I do not know specifically which weapon he carried, but I do know that it was either a Colt M733 Commando (Colt itself called it a Commando, so I do too), or a very early model Colt M4 Carbine.

well...i consider you a hero, even if you did not die in combat. just the fact that you put your life on the line for people like me, makes you a hero in my eyes.
and your right, it was the m733..sorry, i just remember it being shorter than the m4. but i don't know s**t

Ya they are the 2 men i was talking about, they gave their lives to help "Mike Durant" the 2ed black hawk pilot. Ever since that I saw that movie I wanted to buy either a M14 with a aim point scope like Yoroiden witch is what Randy S. used or the gun Gary Gorden used.

I think one of them used a Vietnam-era rifle. Is that true? I read the book and thats what it said. By the way, it makes a great read, I reccomend it.

Pre-Vietnam. The M-14 was officially adopted in 1957. Major US troop deployments to 'Nam started in 1965. Though if you want to get technical, you can trace the M-14 back to 1936, with the adoption of the M1 Garand. If you look at the development of the M14, it is essentially nothing more than an refinded and updated M1, modified to take a detachable magazine, selective fire capabilities (which turned out to be a big mistake), and the ability to readily convert to sniping use.
