what do you like? thats the only thing your gunna hear from us. airsoft is all about personal prefrence. do you have a gun yet? do you have cammo? those are some of the things i reccomend first. if you have those, maybe a vest of sumsort, or protective gear like knee pads and gloves.

That Crossman Stinger you mentioned in the New Players forum wouldn't really qualify as an airsoft gun, though. It would be allowed at public airsoft events, but you would have no chance at hitting anyone. Unfortunately, you are going to have to put aside at least $300 for a quality airsoft gun and then you will have a bunch of other expenses like an airsoft vest, a battery (or two), and once you see some of the players on these fields, you will want more. Just to be allowed to play, some hosts require a barrel sock or barrel plug and a gun case.
If you have a birthday coming up, your best bet will be to ask for it as a present otherwise you're pretty much on your own financially.
EDIT: For a full list of common airsoft items, see our checklist

My B-day was last week, so I kinda missed it.
I will use my 6.5k bbs though and play airsoft w/ some of my friends at my high school so that I don't feel like I wasted a butt load of cash.
I'm thinking of getting a "golden bow ak sniper" mainly because it's a better deal than the G36 and it's mid-level electric for $100
EDIT: Define Kill-rag, lqtm.

A kill rag is just a small red rag that you use to tell people that you are out. When you get shot, you throw the kill rag on your head and walk out with you gun up, or you hands if you have a sling. Any red rag works.

Yea if you are wanting to get into airsoft and have a gun that will compete with others and be as durable as others, try to stay away from the 100-150 dollar guns. You can get one but you would have to put a lot of work into it to run like a Classic Army or Tokyo Mauri type gun.

a great starter gun, in my opinion, would be an ICS. (maybe sureshot can back me up on this one). ICS could be considered as the middle ground between CA and TM as far as price and stock performance.

Admin, you might have some feelings about ICS to throw in there. Good starter gun? Money pit? Do tell...

Basically I have had an expensive, bad experience using ICS but SureShot says they have fixed the problems in their guns.
-- Allow me to interject something, guys: I think we sometimes forget that beginners may not know what we mean when we mention TM and ICS and CA and other abbreviations. Lets try to occasionally break things down for them. --
Anyways, my first gun was a I Chih Shivan (ICS) MP5A4. That was the gun that broke every time I used it. My next gun was a Tokyo Marui (TM) M4 S-System. That gun was much more accurate due to its long barrel, but its build quality did not match the gun I own now -- the Classic Army (CA) M15A4 Rifle. This gun is not much more expensive than the TM brand guns, but it has a metal body and I have never had a problem with it.
I didn't mean to get that detailed in my post, but hopefully it helped a bit. With $400, I strongly suggest you just buy a high-end weapon by ICS, TM, CA, or G&G. You can worry about camouflage and airsoft vests in the future. Some of us will say that you need them because none of us would be able to function without them, but as a beginner, start simple.

actually I may change my mind on this offer. I'm just not all that fond of the MP5.
