Hey, I'm Chris out of Lake Barrington, I'm 15 and I've looked here once or twice, figured I might as well register for the forums. I pretty much started airsoft about a year ago with spring pistols and UTG shotguns, and I'm crossing the threshold into AEGs, looking at the Vietnam War style CA Armalites.

Welcome to the site! I like your choice on a possible new gun for yourself. CA hasent failed me yet. Im the only guy on the team that is 15, or around to age so especially nice to hear from you. Good luck with the new gun.

Any suggestions as to where I should get my gun? I was thinking about Evike or ASGI, but I've heard some less than complementary reviews about both, specifically the credit card fraud issue with ASGI.

I havent heard any type of credit card issue with ASGI. I would actually prefer them. I get all my stuff from them.

WGC Shop and RedWolf Airsoft are both stores that I have ordered from (overseas in Hong Kong) and I have never had a problem with either. It seems these stateside stores -- bus being Americans -- are too lazy to do the job properly. I have not found a true stateside airsoft store that I can rely on; all have mixed reviews and there is really no benefit to them better than overseas stores in my opinion. Also, products overseas are cheaper than they are in the US, but with shipping costs, you end up paying about the same price so it's all good.

Back to you though, welcome to the site. Feel free to poke around everywhere and make sure you check out our Game Attendance page for a list of upcoming events. You can also find details in our Public Events forum.

Oh ok, I had heard something about site security issues, and the credit card holder in my family is fairly suspicious about fraud and stuff like that, so one purchase gone wrong and I might be out of luck in terms of airsoft online for a while. But ASGI sounds more reliable from other experiences I've seen on other forums. Any recommendations for a GBB? I personally would lean towards a KSC USP or CZ series if they have them, but I'm trying to gather suggestions.

EDIT:
I would go more towards HK stores, but the shipping is what kills it for me. The WGCshop estimates were something like 40-50$ for an AEG, I think.

save your money and get an AEG if your serious about airsoft.

edit: from what ive seen on redwolf lately. alot of their guns cost more then stateside stores, and thats even before shipping. the CA SCAR is like 4 sumthing on redwolf. you can get it stateside for 370-375 and free shipping

You're probably going to hear mixed reviews about gas blowbacks as well, but I suggest KSC. Me and 4 other players I know own KSC M9's and they haven't failed us; they give good bang for your buck too (no pun intended). KJW isn't that great but that opinion is based on one gun -- their USP. Also, if you are worried about credit card fraud, setup a PayPal account. It is accepted by Redwolf and companies wouldn't get your credit card information. I don't think they can make transactions without your consent, either. Confirmation on this?

Ok, I was waiting to get my AEG first before getting a GBB, a 400$+ purchase would set me back too much for one transaction.

No offense, but unless you have a big hand, you may not be comfortable with a USP or CZ. I've personally used the real-steel CZ-75 and HATED it. It does not hold comfortably with small hands, and the USP is an even larger pistol, IIRC. I'd suggest looking at a medium frame weapon such as a Glock 19, Walther P99, or any of the 1911 variants. Or hell, even the Beretta would be good.

But as the others have said, an AEG is more important as your first weapon. Smile

Good luck and happy playing!

edit for spelling

Yeah, I only really went for the CZ and USP for looks, really. Only pistol I've really handled is a SIG Sauer P225 and an M1911, both were pretty big for me, although it was a few years ago. Any good P99s aside from the Maruzen?

Seeing as you're still a strapping young lad I bet you'll be fine with a 1911 now. Wink

Personally I like ASGI, never had a problem with 'em. They even called me the day after I ordered once because they wanted to make sure I realized a couple parts wouldn't work together (was buying parts for 2 different guns). I don't use paypal with 'em, only my debit card.

Evike, I haven't had trouble with. But I've heard some stories, mostly dealing with larger orders. I've heard (and experienced) that as long as you make smaller orders, there's less to screw up.

I have a KSC CZ-75 V1, and like it. But then it does fit my hand just right.

Yeah, I just personally didn't like the way the real steel CZ75 fit my hand. It didn't feel right to me.

Surprisingly though the Steyr M9 felt pretty comfortable (except after putting 100+ rounds through it adn it started digging into my palm, but that was me holding it akward).

Everyone has good and bad experiences so one store might be great for one person and suck for the other, i placed a big order with kastway for like 2grand and it took a wile to get here, stuff came from different places in different boxes, Adam ordered a molle hydration camel back and it was the wrong color as well.

Kastway has great cuctomer service its run by 3 brothers who play the sport as well and they gave me their personal phone number because i had such a large order, juts find the cheapest place and get it from there if you have problems then contact them and raise hell. I hold no allegiance to any store, whoever can give me the best price.
