Ya im with bombsquad on this one... i dont think it os a sport. As much as i would like it to be.

I guess it all depends on what people think a sport is. I define a sport to be something like football, baseball, hockey, etc; not things like hiking, climbing, or other adventure activities. I really just see sports as competitive and not an athletic hobby.

Airsoft is a military simulation. Even though a points system may be in place and you may have teams, that doesn't make it a sport in my opinion. If people start calling airsoft a sport, you will really just be playing paintball with airsoft guns (paintsoft as mentioned above). I like knowing that airsoft isn't just two groups of players shooting at each other from across a bunker or a forest; it has to have scenarios and missions involved. Mainly, I don't think airsoft should ever have tournaments or other Team vs. Team scrimmages (a Team being something like HEAT and not a side you chose at a particular event).

why would you want airsoft to be a sport. there's nothing to gain from it being a sport, just a lot to lose. it cannot be a sport, it must not be a sport. like admin mentioned airsoft doesn't have, nor it shoudl have, a points structure like a sport game does (ie football, baseball, etc) and it's a milsim how can we simulate a military operation and slap a point system on it? we, as airsoft players shouldn't want airsoft to be a sport because of the reasons knight mentioned. "the ego, the trash talking, and general ass hattery" will come into airsoft as it did to paintball
