Hello all, Ive recently returned from Active Duty Navy service. Spent most of my time in the Navy over in Japan, and got into airsoft over there. Looking to stay involved, keep the skills sharp so to speak. So please send me info on where to play, etc. Also if you have any other ? about me, just ask. Thanks

Welcome to the forums and thanks for serving our country! What were you in the navy? My friend returned from Active last October as a Corpsman. She loves her Marines, that's for sure.

I started out in the Navy in 1996 as a Hull Tech, basically a welder, plumber, firefighter. (Jack of all trades...Master of none) It was fun, I was stationed on the Navy's two oldest carriers. The USS Independence and the USS Kitty Hawk. My main job responsibilites was high pressure welding on the ships boilers. After my sea tour was over with, I went to shore duty in Sasebo, Japan as a Security officer. I was convinced to permanantly change my rate to Master-At-Arms. I did becuase promotions as a HT slowed down badly. I really enjoyed my new job. As a MAA I was stationed with a SeaBee battalion, worked with the 7th fleet command structure as a bodyguard for Admirals, and a 8 month deployment to Afganistan.

Yes, I too love our corpsmen, I had dealt with a lot of them due to injuries (broken jaw, ribs..etc) Never had one complaint about any of them!

Welcome aboard sailor! Glad to have you home safe. Where'd you get holed up with the Seabees? Stateside or overseas? Done with the service or still on reserve status?

Not to step on any one's toes, but swing by here and say hello

Oh, Im still in reserve status! Gotta make chief some how! Maybe after im done with school, Ill be an officer, but Im not holding my breathe!!! I got held up with the SEABEES NMCB 3 over in Japan, but was called toguard "IMPORTANT PEOPLE" after 9/11. Nothing special to make them important, other than their collar devices, but I dont make the rules.

I never figured out the LDO deal... does the command pick your job or do you say with your rate? I never bothered asking about it while I was in. They offered me a PA officer slot before signing up, and I figured they'd give me the same job if I had went for an LDO slot. So I didn't bother. Good luck, by the way, on the exam. Looking back at it, I should've taken it; ah well, hindset is always 20/20

As I see it...as a LDO, Ill basically stay in the Security field, until I make O4. Once I make O4 or LCDR then Ill be able to assume other responsibilities, like engineering officer. Then as time goes on I can actually get a XO/CO billet somewhere. As of now, LDO's can only assume command in extreme circumstances, Like all others with a higher rank around you are dead! Thats the way it was explained. However if I make Chief, I may just go for Warrant Officer. Right now, thats just way too much thinking for me!! LOL

Take care

Yup, checked out the link, most of the site is still under construction, or my pc skills still suck even after those classes. Looks like fun though.

Off topic...Can anybody recommend a shop nearby to buy airsoft gear? Im looking to get ahold of a few more mags for my M4. I think the movers lost (AKA Stole) some of mine. Or customs confiscated them!! Thanks in advance.

more likely the movers. customs would most likely take them all if they take some. ASJ is the most popular local shop, if not the only one.
