First of all, apologies for the date changing. We did some research and found out duck hunting season starts the weekend we HAD it planned for. Last year we had to stop the game a few times so they could hunt for a while. This way, we'll have the island to ourselves. (it's owned by the airport, and you can use it if you're a memeber of the river commitee, which one of the guys from UCA is.)
So, the final dates are: Friday Oct 12th through Sunday Oct 14th. Go ahead and lock in these dates if you need to take them off from work...etc.
As for training dates, I'm looking at the 23rd or the 30th this month. They're both Sundays. You guys will have to let me know what's best for you.
I'm seeing a lot of people that we haven't played with. I'm going to have to leave it up to Kevin Z, and John to decide who goes with. We have four slots to fill.
As for UCA, they're an 8 year old team based out of Rockford like us. Most of their gear is Vietnam era (Olive drab, A1's, M14's). They focus on outdoor combat (Tons of land). I grew up with most of the guys. We all actually used to be on the same team, but split up in the first year because it worked better that way. We've been friendly rivals ever since.
So, yes, the gears are moving. Chris from UCA is going to e-mail me details like exact times and exact rules. As soon as I get that, I'll post it here. But all you really need to know is:
-Arrive in rockford at noon Friday Oct 12th.
-Bring shooting glasses (face mask not required), all your gear (weapons cases if you have them), ammo, and a tent.
Everything else will be taken care of. (Food and water). There is no admission for this game.
I'll post more in the next few days. Kevin, John, get in touch with me about who else you'd like to bring. The island games are fairly serious grudge matches between UCA and NIAA and we'd like to have the best guys possible.
Keep in touch.

Just to be clear, when I say Kevin, I mean Zimmerman. Between Kevin and John, they've been out here the most.
Thought I'd clear that up since there are what....three Kevins??

Should I assume US Woodland will be our uniform?

Yes, woodland is still our primary uniform. I've been thinking of switching to ACU, but at the moment, we don't do enough urban combat to warrent the change. The island will be a mix of medium greens to dark browns and blacks. There is a field in the middle with bright greens and light browns. Two best camo patterns to use out there are Woodland and Marpat.
If you haven't got woodland, that's fine. We don't expect everyone to be spot on with our loadouts. Most important is full camo, a reliable weapon, and a radio (we have a few extra).

I've got a couple sets of woodland, I just didn't wear 'em at games last year because it was still my duty uniform. And I didn't get my Multicam until after you guys stopped holding games. Anyway, this gives me an excuse to break out my DIY RAID BDUs again.
I've got a couple Motorola radios, they're a bit old, but worked fine for the Khe Sanh game last month at Blast Camp. And I'll probably bring a few weapons just in case I have a breakdown. Depending on which ones, I may show up with between 30 and 50 mags (you can never have too many mags).
As far as training days go, I'm pretty sure I can do the 23rd (even if I'm wiped out from WGF on the 22nd), but I'm planning to be at Blast Camp on the 30th.

I would like to go, check out a new field and meet new people.
Is that possible?

Found out I have some paid time off from work, so if I am cleared to play at the game, ( I only made it out to one of your games last year, so if not, I understand) I may actually get to put in my PTO!

Alright then, the 23rd it is. John, get in touch with Kevin Z since he hasn't posted in this new subject yet. I gave him a private message as well. Like I said, we've got two slots in addition to you two, so let me know who's going.
I recently spoke to Chris from UCA and got the schedule for the Island, so here's everything from now, until then:
---------------------------------------------
11:00a-Sunday Sept 23rd:
Team Tactics Training (and retraining, it's been a while for us too, ha.) *location: NIAA Field*
(We'll set up fireteams at this point, and get used to using the radios as such, run through patrols, ambushes, hand signals...etc It'll basically be a crunch time team building excersise so we don't just run around invidually at the island and get torn up. We'll probably get food, and then head back to my place (staging point the day of the island) to iron out all the wrinkles and make sure everyone has what they need well before the island.)
11:00-Friday Oct 12th:
Staging for the island game.
(This will happen at my house, we'll gear up, make sure everyone's got batteries charged, do any last minute shopping (there's always something). Because once we're on the island, we don't leave until Sunday afternoon. If everything is straight, we'll basically hang out until UCA gives us the call that we can meet them at the island.
17:00-18:00-Friday Oct 12th:
Island landing, live fire begins:
UCA is putting us on the island first. We'll have an hour or two to set up camp, and then they'll make their way onto the island dynamically. We'll have an objective to protect, they'll have to get onto the island, and set up camp without us noticing, since live fire begins the second WE set foot on the island.
15:00-Sunday Oct 14th:
Game ends.
We'll probably meet up with UCA at this point, talk about the game, get off the island, and whoever is interested, go out for food to talk everything over (since both teams are completely seperate the entire time on the island).
-------------------------------------------------------
That's the basic outline for everything leading up to, and including the island game. If there's any questions, or concerns, just post them here.
Oh, John, you mentioned a crapload of magazines? What type are they? Please say M16. It would be great to have a huge pile of M16 Mags to split up. We've got....30 or so ourselves. We'd be able to stay on site at UCA's camp for 10x longer than they could at ours. (we choose to carry the same weapons, and lots of mags, they choose to carry lots of weapons, and no mags).
Take care guys, looking forward to these dates.

The 23rd it is. I have about 30 or so M16 mags on my own. I'll be more than glad to loan those out too. I'm stoked for this.

33 of the mags are M16. All of 'em are Star locaps. 14 are 30-round mags, and 19 (20 if I get the last back from Destro) 20-round VN-type mags.
Even if I just run one of my M14s (I got both G&G and Star) or the AK, I can still carry extra M16 mags.
For the 2 remaining spots, I think Freese would be a good choice. The other slot, not sure yet.

Bad news fellas.
I just got my training schedule for the next few months, and they've got me on duty Oct. 13-14. So unless I can pull the right strings, I'm gonna have to sit this one out.

Hmm, sorry to hear that John. See what strings you can pull, and keep me updated. So we've got Kevin Z, and Freese. Hopefully you can work something out, we're doing what we can to make it worth the trip out here for you guys.
Excellent on the mags, we'll have a large advantage over UCA in staying power now. Our mags are your mags...etc. This is a weakness of UCA's, solid teamwork. They've got three guys to keep an eye out for. An upgraded M14 and a 550fps K98 Gas rifle. I've fired it....not THAT accurate, but the guy behind it is a state trooper, so he does know what to do with it.
They're not kids plinking with airsoft weapons. They've got about 150 acres of land and have been training on it since 1999. That being said, they're not impossible to crack by a longshot. Nearly every large game they've hosted, we've been there, and taken them down nearly every chance we got. But we've lost a few guys, and I just recently got out of the Army, so we've got some warming up to do. The bottom line is we can't underestimate them. Especially recently, they've started training already and recently switched to a new camo pattern.
Standard equipment for them this season seems to be olive drab camo, period vietnam load bearing gear, and M14's all around (marui model). Chris' is the only one upgraded at the moment, as far as I know.
These are the core guys on UCA, they've all got 7+ years of experience on an organized team, they all own various top shelf AEG's, as well as numerous real steel weapons.
Chris:
Age: 26
Team Exp: 8 years
Notable weapons: Various Marui AEG's, Upgraded Marui M14, Cetmi SG1 Mod.
Luke:
Age: 24
Team Exp: 7 years
Notable weapons: Various Marui AEG's, Marui marksman rifle (the name slips my mind)
Doyle: (State Trooper)
Age: 25
Team Exp: 8 years
Notable weapons: K98 Gas rifle (550fps)
Steve:
Age: 24
Team Exp: 8 years
Notable weapons: Various stock Marui AEG's.
Recently, they've gotten a lot better with ambushes. We were ALWAYS the one to take them down in an ambush, but I've got to hand it to them, they got us a few times last season, and I don't like it. They're tired of getting nailed by us, and now that our numbers are down, I think they're going to try to hit us harder than normal. It's going to be really interesting. Lots of interesting training on the 23rd.
Kevin, any ideas on these other two slots?
I'll keep in touch guys, John, keep me posted.

Also, roster updates on our side:
I'm trying to get an Army commo buddy, and Jay's working on a Ranger buddy of his. John, you were what...a tanker? I think a Ranger, Radio op, Tanker, and an Infantryman should add up to a state trooper.

UCA Roster Update:
Two more guys with 3+ years team experience, and I think they're brining in some of the guys from Team Cifor. They've been around for a while, and have guys ranging in experience from 5 to 10 years. You guys have probobly played with them a few times. And like NIAA and HEAT, UCA is likely calling upon Cifor to boost the numbers in a time of need.
Lets just hope they're not inviting them out to train before the game. That way, we'll have our edge.
