If you don't get a players package, buy your battery from www.BatterySpace.com and look in their Airsoft Batteries section. Probably the cheapest store for batteries, but I haven't had a problem with any of them I bought.

All these players now ride FPS so much. Truth is, stock FPS (275-290 for most Marui's) works really well. Some of my weapons are stock and as long as you know your weapon you can get a stock weapon to be as useful as an upgraded one.

Yeah, you really don't need to worry about FPS that much off of the bat, I played for 2 years with a stock TM AK Beta Spetznaz and did just fine.
Alot of other things factor in as well, such as barrel length and rate of fire.
As Toggle said what you need to do is get to know your weapon to make it usefull.
Its the person that performs not the gun.

I've found barrel length to have the biggest factor when it comes to an accurate weapon. Sure, FPS will make your gun shoot faster, but that doesn't help stabalize the bb much. My stock M15 was able to hit players very far away in just 1 or 2 shots. My old MP5 would have taken many more and the inaccuracy isnt something that you can correct easily with a gun that has a short barrel.
I think the main reason why people upgrade their guns is because they can. Most fields have the 400 fps limit so why not get the most out of your gun? If you gun is a submachine gun or other CQB weapon, I would suggest keeping it stock to prevent anything bad from happening to your gearbox and also to keep you shooting at a high rate of fire.
