One of the classical outdoor chairs that everybody loves to have in their patio, yard or outdoor space is the Adirondack chair. It is made of wooden planks and is able to last for years. In the olden days, people use to build their own Adirondack chairs but nowadays, there are lots of suppliers that offer this kind of chair. You may even review Adirondack Chairs if you purchase one and is happy or not so happy about it. Through the review, other people can make up their minds about buying a specific Adirondack chair or not.
No matter where your Adirondack chair comes from, it will still be prone to wear and tear especially if you love using it. Porches, patios, decks, and other outdoor spaces may not be enclosed that is why the chair is left to feel the harshness of the weather. When this happens, the chair can be damaged and it may look very bad and old. To remedy this, you have to repaint your chair and do it regularly. The paint you coat your chair with will help make sure that it can last outdoors even if there are changes in the weather. It is therefore important that you know how to repaint your Adirondack chair. Here is a detailed step by step guide on how to do that.
1. The first thing you have to do is to clean the chair. Use any household cleaner and a rag to wipe down the chair. This will enable you to see if there are any damages in the chair and if you need to repair it.
2. Place a cloth on the ground and invert the chair so that it is sitting upside down. With this position you can give the chair a little test. Determine if it has any wiggling arms and also check that the screws or bolts are tightly in place. You may give a little tightening to your chair if it needs to.
3. Use an electronic wood sander or a piece of sand paper to remove the previous paint or coating on the chair. Make sure not to miss any part especially the bottom. If there are any rough spots, you should make them smooth by sanding them. To remove the dust formed when you sanded the chair, use a cloth. Place back the chair in its upright position and then sand everything.
4. A latex primer should be applied to the chair. You can use a brush to do this. After the primer is dry, you can now proceed with the paint of your choice. Remember that you should paint every part of the chair. Don’t miss anything because if you do, the water will have access to it and it can cause your chair to rot. A second coat of paint can also be used to further thicken the coating. Allow your paint to dry thoroughly before making use of the chair. Now that your chair is ready, you can add some pillows to it to make it more comfortable.
